Veterinarians
Dr. Melissa Curry
Managing Veterinarian
Dr. Melissa Curry was born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, and wanted to become a veterinarian since she was a young girl. At 14, she began working with a few different veterinarians in Greensboro, and her dreams began to come true.
She graduated from UNC Greensboro with a BA at the top of her class, summa cum laude, in 1992. She then went on to graduate from NC State College of Veterinary Medicine at the top of her class and again summa cum laude in 1996.
Dr. Curry practiced in Charlotte, NC, for four years in a small animal and exotic practice and then relocated to Florida in 1999. She practiced in the Tampa Bay Area for 21 years and won multiple awards for Medical Director of the Year before returning to her home state of NC in 2021 with her family.
Dr. Curry grew up visiting the Hendersonville / Brevard area as a child as well as throughout her adult life, and relocating to this area was another dream come true.
Dr. Curry enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and has a special interest in dentistry, surgery, ophthalmology, and dermatology. With over 27 years in general practice, she has learned that the best quality patient care all starts with a thorough physical exam of the patient and excellent communication with our clients.
Dr. Curry spends her free time with three cats, one dog, and six beautiful backyard chickens. She enjoys taking art classes at the local community college when she is not hiking or kayaking.

Dr. Lara Anderson-Bailey
Dr. Lara Anderson-Bailey grew up in Franklin, NC and dreamed of becoming a small animal veterinarian since she was 7 years old. By 9 years old, she knew she would attend NC State University for her education – where she graduated in 2008 with two degrees in Zoology and Biological Sciences and as a Doctor in Veterinary Medicine in 2012.
After graduation, Dr. Lara enjoyed practicing in Upstate SC for almost 10 years but longed to return to the beauty and community of Western NC. She has lived in Hendersonville for over 8 years and is excited to join the Hendersonville Veterinary Hospital team! She looks forward to serving her friends/neighbors and giving back to the amazing town that she calls home.
Dr. Lara loves all aspects of small animal medicine and has a particular passion for challenging internal medicine cases in dogs/cats and “nervous-at-the-vet” feline patients. She also has an interest in hospice and end-of-life care – Dr. Lara knows that aging in our pets can be difficult but she strives to support her clients with care and compassion to ensure their pets are taken care of with grace and love.
When she’s not loving on her patients, Dr. Lara enjoys snuggling her two Golden Retrievers (Milly and Betty), her little geriatric Cairn terrier mix (Molly), and her silly black cat (Betelgeuse, a.k.a. “Beetle”). She loves to garden and try out new recipes/cooking techniques. She also enjoys playing board games and making music with her mechanical engineer husband (Josh).

She is committed to diagnosing and treating complex medical conditions in pets to ensure they lead healthy and fulfilling lives.
Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Kelly enjoys various outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, and snowboarding. She also likes exploring breweries and spending quality time with friends and family playing board games and card games. At home, Dr. Kelly cherishes the companionship of her Border Collie, Luka, who has been her loyal companion throughout her schooling.
